WebDec 14, 2024 · I prefer the Zen DAC just because it has a tiny bit more base (without baseboost) and a wider sound stage than DX3 Pro+. With baseboost, it adds some low end to the DT990s which helps in some genres. The DT990s are base shy and the baseboost only boosts it a tiny bit since these cans are stubborn in base reproduction.

Topping E30 / D10 / Modi 3 + JDS Atom / Geshelli / Magni Heresy for ≈$230 total. You definitely don't need a Jotunheim for your 6XX.. For AIO devices: Sabaj D5 or DX7S/Pro would perform good as well.

I doubt in a blind test a difference could be heard between the two DAC just get the cheaper one with the features you need, inputs etc.. WebSchiit has metal cases. JDS has much better product and customer support than the others. Topping has a screen. For what it's worth, I'm very happy with my JDS Atom Amp and will probably pick up the DAC for a matching set, but the Heresy/Modi stack seems like a great option too.
