WebFeb 7, 2024 · Improvement work at North Lynn allotment is under way. The work is part of the new Cowper Place housing development, near Lynnsport. From Monday, February 10, there will be no access via Front Way, over Bawsey Drain, to the allotments for one week. Webcivil war ditch fortification lay on the line of Bawsey drain, with part of the Town Wall to the east of the drain. In the mid-19th century a new cut was dug to carry the river further to the west, after which the land including the site was reclaimed. The site was first developed in 1873 as St Nicholas Iron Works, occupied by Savage Brothers.
